Best Digital SLRs
The best Pentax digital SLR camera provides photographers with a lot of flexibility.
Whether you want to make enormous prints, capture stunning landscapes, photograph still life, or take studio-style portraits (with professional lights) the Pentax K20D is up to the job.
On this page, we'll explore some of the features that make the K20D the best of the Pentax line of cameras.
More Megapixels
For anyone who wants to make large prints of their digital images, the Pentax K20D provides a whopping 14.6 megapixels to work with.
At the time of its release, it had the highest megapixel count of any other digital SLR (that didn't last long).
Having photos with tons of megapixels allows you to do two things:
- Use all the megapixels and print at huge sizes
- Crop out portions of your image and print at normal sizes
For example, you could cut out a full 50% of one of your photos and still wind up with a 7 megapixel image - plenty for a nice 11x17 inch print.
The only drawback is that these files are quite large, which means that it takes longer to get them off the memory card and onto your computer.
It also means that you need a fairly powerful computer to view and edit them - that old PC you've had for 6 years now probably won't cut it.
Built-in Image Stabilization
This type of stabilization works very well when the main subject of your photo isn't moving.
Its main purpose it to eliminate image blur that's caused by camera shake, especially when using very slow shutter speeds in dim light.
This is all well and good - but if your subject is moving, subject blur will result, even if the background appears perfectly clear.
